Remember the old “Unwanted Guests” story? This story has a significant difference. In the old one, the Sparrow asked the Old Lady: “I’m the one who chirps for you… Lays a tiny egg for you… Shall I leave?” but in our story, the Sparrow doesn’t say a single word. The Old Lady who wants to hear those words gets mad at her and the Sparrow sulks.
We should go into the jungle with the Old Lady and go past the Lion, the Wolf, and the Tiger. Don’t be afraid! Come along inside the story and write another ending for it.
This chapter book is from the five title series of “The Open-Ended Stories”, that is full of animals, people and unpredictable adventures; a kid grows a tail, and a sparrow loses her chirps. The writer has come up with three different endings for each story, but the fourth ending is of much more importance. It must be written by the reader. Who knows! The best endings written by children might even become a separate book under their own name!
